Forsythia Sage

Salvia madrensis

Forsythia Sage

A native Mexican Salvia, Forsythia Sage produces spikes of buttery-yellow flowers in late summer on 5-7 foot plants (staking may be required). Unusual squared-off stems and rough-coated triangular to heart-shaped leaves make plants ornamental even out of flower. Light to filtered shade and organically rich well-drained soil with supplemental water in dry spells provide optimum conditions. Zones 7-10.
