Bloodflower Butterfly Weed
Asclepias curassavica
South American transplant now naturalized to Texas. Thick, upright stems are filled with a sticky, milk-white sap. Long and pointed 5" leaves. Red-orange blooms summer thru fall. Attracts butterflies. Aphids will blemish but not kill plant. Frost tender annual. Full sun. Low water needs. Zones 8-10.
